Today was a big day.

At 10:00 this morning, on behalf of the Wild Pink Yonder riders and Pinkest Little Town in the West contestants, Rusty and I presented a giant pink cheque to Alberta Cancer Foundation for $75,112.  It was a very satisfying morning.

I hope you saw us on Global TV News this evening.  We were on the 5:00, 6:00 and 11:00 news.  It included footage of our arrival at Edmonton Equine Veterinary Centre on the last day of the ride.  With any luck we’ll also be on tomorrow’s morning and noon news, but that’s only a faint hope.  We WILL be on CITY-TV tomorrow (Thursday) every 15 minutes between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m., and then every half hour ’til (I think) noon.  With luck, you’ll see our Kenny there as well.

$75,000.  That’s an increase of nearly 40%.  When we spoke with the folks at Alberta Cancer Foundation, they couldn’t believe what we’ve (you’ve) done.  Every other fundraiser they have has DECREASED in both money raised and people involved this year.  We were the only ones to go the right direction, so puff out your chests, folks!  We all done good!

  1. Jane,

That is such awesome news. Way to go! I will let the rest of the dragonboat paddling crew know how well you, Rusty and the rest of the Wild Pink Yonder did this year. We are so proud of you.

    • Hi Cathy … As you probably guessed, this year’s ride was all about Kirsten. Today would have been her birthday. On this day, Kent, Paul and Shirley spread her ashes in two more of the places she requested. There is only one more to go. Rusty and I weren’t there for that, but we dedicated our cheque to her honour this morning.

      Happy Trails from Edmonton!

  2. Great News! I’m sure next year will be even better.
Is there a website where we in the southern colonies can see the Global or City-TV reports?

Managed to catch you on CITYE TV this morning. Congrats!

Seeing the short clip of the ride brought back so many memories. Didnt see Kenny at all but saw a few others.
