Do you ever wonder where the money we’ve raised goes, and what it is accomplishing?

Over the last year, funding by WPY (and others) has allowed the Alberta Cancer Foundation to fund 29 innovative research studies into breast cancer, including the Breast 2 Bone Study, which is breaking new ground.   In addition, our funding has allowed the Alberta Cancer Foundation to support several summer studentships, as well as an endowed chair in the area of Breast Cancer research.  This will allow Alberta to attract and retain the best oncologists from around the world.

Breaking new ground = providing answers that will lead to more progress = saving lives.

  1. I do. Saw an article yesterday, will try to find, about how only 37% of money given to an organization (don’t remember now which) for victims of the Haiti earthquake had been dispersed.

    • It is because of things like that that our organization gets looked at sideways by some of the towns we visit. It’s frustrating.

It is because of things likes that that we are considering NOT giving our money directly to Alberta Cancer Foundation each year, instead stockpiling it and eventually having an endowment that funds PARTICULAR research projects. Projects that WE choose. That way one knows EXACTLY where the money goes. I am very proud to say that EVERY RED CENT that our riders bring in goes to the Alberta Cancer Foundation for breast cancer research. Wild Pink Yonder does not hold back ANY of it.

      • I am still trying to find that article. 😦 I go through a lot of news articles and can’t believe I haven’t found it yet. I also remember hearing something about the American Red Cross and one other organization, can’t remember which, deciding to wait to disperse funds. Although I do not remember if that was for Haiti or Japan. I think Japan.

It is awful, it should not happen, that is what the money is there for, to help people. I am glad you make sure all of your donations are used. The way it should be.
