When we announced that Wild Pink Yonder would start with a Fandango in Lloydminster, Amber jumped on board immediately. She said she had no experience organizing something like this … and then proceeded to organize a Fandango that’s bigger and better than anything we’ve ever had before!
This year’s Fandango starts with an afternoon of “horse games” (11:00-4:00). We’re calling it Pink Power (as in Pink Horse Power). Anybody can come ride in it, though if you’re a pro at barrel racing, pole bending, keyhole or flags, we don’t want you! This is for all of us who are duffers. You know who you are: you’re the ones who’d like to give it a whirl, but you don’t want to embarrass yourself in front of all those racers who own “barrel horses”. You have your trusted trail horse and the two of you’ve never run barrels (or maybe tried it once or twice out behind the barn). So Amber organized this and I came up with the prizes. (And the prizes are neat! No cash to be won, but there’s about $400 in goodies.) Also, there will be a prize for the pinkest horse and rider, no matter how well or poorly they do at the games.
So, bring your trail horse, your plow horse, your miniature horse (and cart) … and come run barrels, poles and two other games called “Keyhole” and “Flags”. It’ll be a hoot … and definitely NO pressure!
Then, Amber got going and has arranged a beautiful Fandango evening. It’ll start with the bar opening at 5:30. Then we’ll have a buffet supper starting at 6:00. During supper we’ll give away the prizes from the horse games. At 7:00 we’ll start “Play It Pink”, a Battle of the Country Bands! Your ticket gives you a say in which band wins. We’ll have judges and their vote will be 50%. The name you write on your ticket will help decide the other 50%. (Tickets: $40 — includes dinner and the battle — call Amber to reserve your ticket at (780) 808-0398.)
Throughout the evening we’ll have a silent auction and a bunch of door prizes too.
So come on, Lloydminster (and surrounding areas)! If you’ve got a horse, come play games with us and stay for Fandango. If you’re horseless, come enjoy a beautiful buffet supper and an evening of country music.
Did I mention that she’s a pink pistol? Thank you, Amber Roberts-Moore!
